Who does not love the Fallout series? But, let’s agree that it can get stressful sometimes. So, what to do when you want to break your controller? Just release all your stress with a casual Fallout series game called Fallout Shelter available on Android and iOS. The makers of the Fallout series, Bethesda Softworks LLC introduced this game in 2015 as a marketing tool to promote the brand and the Fallout 4 which was about to release during that time. However, the fun gameplay and the interesting concept of this management game format won the hearts of many serious and casual gamers. This game was the first mobile game released by the makers. If you haven’t tried it out yet, then this is the best time to get into this unique virtual world as it recently came with many amazing updates as a part of the 25th Fallout Anniversary celebration. Want a description of Fallout Shelter or wondering how to play the game? Then keep on reading for more.
Don’t let the bright color scheme and cartoonish design fool you! Fallout Shelter has everything to keep you on your toes. The concept of this stylized game is simple. You have to create your own vault. What you need to know about this are – this vault is present underground (2000 feet below the ground which is now a Wasteland) and you are in charge of overseeing its inhabitants known as the Dwellers. This simulation game will give you everything you need to lead the Dwellers to happiness. You will be finding them suitable jobs, training them, giving them weapons, dressing them, and even helping them to find other Dwellers to repopulate. The customization feature of this game is what to look out for as you will be introduced to Crafting which will help you to turn unusable items into very useful things to advance in this game. You will be provided with a few Dwellers; however, you can build a Radio Room to bring in more Dwellers. The Dwellers come with stats that you have to maintain which you will see as S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
Your first official task should involve building Rooms like Radio Room (mentioned above) or Training Room. The view of the room from your screen will be a 2-dimensional grid that kind of resembles an ant farm. The dimensions available for the rooms are 1x3 which can be expanded to 1x6 and 1x9 to fit in more Dwellers. As soon as you begin Fallout Shelter, you will learn about the importance of resources (Power or Electricity, Food, and Water) in this game. There are Caps that will act like currency and you will need them to build and upgrade rooms. So, this management game is ready to test your skills every step along the way, making the gameplay exciting and addicting. Some other features of this game are:
It is a single-player game designed to ensure you can advance without in-app purchases
The graphics are stunning and fun animations like confetti-explosion of happy faces to indicate your selected Dwellers are repopulating
From time to time your Vault will be under attack both from inside and outside and you will have to protect it, making the game non-monotonous like most management games
Options to gain items, Caps, and experience is easily available; you have to send the Dwellers to explore above-ground or Wasteland and during this time your game strategy will be to ensure your Dwellers do not die on the quest

How To Play

Now that you have an idea of what Fallout Shelter has to offer from the description given above, next let’s discuss how to play this game. This mobile game is indeed known for its easy controls and simple gameplay; however, if you skip the tutorial you will find yourself starting the game over. Basically, you will be taught to build 3 resource rooms, assign Dwellers to them, and build “living quarters” for your Dwellers. Now, check out the following steps to learn how to play:
Step 1
The game starts by giving you the option to “Enter Vault” and you will be provided with 3 options. Pick one vault and name it which that game states as “ID” for the vault. You can only select 3 numbers and you are not allowed to change this 3-digit ID, so do name the vault carefully.
Step 2
The Vault-Tec will provide you with all information or the tutorial. Through the tutorial, you will build Power Generator Room from the Built Menu by tapping on the Hammer Icon. Once the room is ready, Dwellers will come. The tutorial will teach you to check their stats and drag and drop them in the appropriate rooms. You have to double-tap the rooms to take a closer look. Increase the activity of a room with the help of the Rush Menu. As soon as an activity is completed in a room you will get what you were after and also Caps. Keep on building other rooms (Diner Room for food to keep the Dwellers' health up and Water Treatment Room to keep the Dwellers' radiation level low) to expand and bring in more Dwellers. Make sure to pair male and female Dwellers in rooms (Living Quarters) to encourage the repopulation task of the game. Besides, you have to keep on building the Elevator to ensure your Dwellers can move from one room to another.
Step 3
Your first task after this tutorial phase will be sending the Dwellers to the Wasteland to collect Caps, Weapons, and Outfits. After ensuring you have provided your Dwellers supplies for the quest, drag one or more Dwellers outside to begin the exploration of the Wasteland.
Step 4
When you have more than one resource room, you will be provided with a pop-up notification to Rush the process to gain Rewards. Do know that Dwellers with more "Luck" in their S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats can provide you with the allotted experience and the Caps bonuses.
Step 5
You have to upgrade the production rooms to ensure you can get more resources. In the upper right corner of a room, you will find the Arrow Icon which you have to tap for the upgradation. Keep on building and strategizing to advance in Fallout Shelter. There is also the option to purchase Caps for quicker and faster advancement.
These steps on how to play the game mentioned above can definitely help any new gamer to get a hold of this game from the get-go. As this is a single-player game, you do not have to depend on other players to advance or collect the needed Caps or resources. So, go on and give Fallout Shelter a try, you will not regret it. Do share your experience in the comment section down below for your fellow gamers who are interested in this amusing and mind-stimulating game.
